Departing NPN Board Member, Samuel Valdez, offers some parting words
I have been a part of NPN for the last 10 years, a place I can call home. Through the organization I have found great friends and colleagues who I have collaborated with in several ways and will continue doing so. Some have been through performances at their theater spaces, and others have been working at the board level with incredible individuals.
In my time on the board, I acquired many skills on how to build a successful organization. I learned how to watch for specific outcomes that can make or break an organization, which I have been using to create my own group back in San Diego.
My further work with NPN is to continue building upon what I’ve been doing with the board, like making the artists the center of the organization, bringing more focus to artists with disabilities, and creating stronger international alliances.
I would like to suggest to current and incoming board members that they continue building on the work that the outgoing members have done. I am available to support or answer any questions needed.
I am very thankful to have been introduced and brought in to NPN at the time that it happened. My career in the arts was uplifted 100%.
