Stephanie Atkins (she/her), Director of Southern Programs, was born and raised in New Orleans, and has been influenced by the arts and culture of her city from an early age. For 29 years, she has been involved with the field as a visual artist, arts educator, and administrator. Before joining the NPN staff, she taught visual arts for 11 years in the Orleans Parish School District. During the last thirteen years, she has honed her skills as an arts leader in the national and local arts and culture field. As the director of Southern Programs, she manages NPN’s Southern Regranting Initiatives and its Fiscal Sponsorship Program. She is a member of GIA’s Individual Artists Support Committee as well as continuing her work on the steering committees for the Performing Arts Readiness (PAR) project and National Coalition for Arts Preparedness and Emergency Response (NCAPER). Stephanie is equally proud of her participation with the boards of Antenna Gallery and the New Orleans Chapter of the National Alumnae Association for Spelman College. She is a former Rockwood Leadership Institute Fellow in Arts & Culture. Stephanie holds a B.A. degree in visual arts from Spelman College and an MFA in painting from the University of Cincinnati.
