What to See

One of the most important aspects of the Annual Meeting is providing opportunities to see new work of diverse contemporary performing and visual artists across the US.

First up: The Visual Artists Network (VAN), NPN’s initiative for touring visual artists, will kick off the Meeting with the VAN Exhibition & Opening Reception at Living Arts of Tulsa on Sunday November 16@ 6:00pm. Download the VAN Exhibition Playbill!
Featuring:

  • Akiko Kotani from Slippery Rock, PA
  • Laurie Spencer from Tulsa, OK
  • Steve A. Prince from Meadville, PA

You will also see (and hear about) work during the “Live & On Stage” performances at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center, on the Tulsa Arts District Crawl, as pop-up ArtBursts during meeting sessions at the hotel, as part of the “Media Slam” and “In the Works” sessions on Tuesday, and at “Cafe Kzany.” Like we said–many opportunities!

This year, we went back to the drawing board to make improvements to the “Live & On Stage” performances, and we think that these significant changes will make a positive difference for audiences and artists:

  • Each evening performance will feature a total of 4 companies (2 national and 2 local).
  • Each national performing company will present their Creation Fund piece as a 20-30 minute excerpt (previously 45 minutes).
  • Each local performing company will present their work as a 10-15 minute excerpt (previously 10 minutes).

As always, our goals for the “Live & On Stage” performances include sharing finished work in which NPN has invested, sharing the work of local artists, and increasing opportunities for artists’ work to be seen. Download the Live & On Stage Playbill!
