Annual Meeting Objectives (What we hope excites you!):

  • Building and strengthening relationships
  • Advancing professional development
  • Connecting with what’s going on creatively around the country
  • Deepening the field’s knowledge of New Orleans culture

Philosophy (What excites us!):

  • To bring Artists and Presenters together in a peer-to-peer context
  • To provide support to Artists and NPN/VAN Partners through shared best practices
  • To create an environment where artists and presenters can develop peer relationships–not power relationships
  • To activate new collaborations and partnerships
  • To show the breadth of work that NPN has subsidized

Overview (What to expect!):

  • When & Where:  December 12-16, 2013 in NEW ORLEANS
  • Arrive on Thursday and depart on Monday

Who You Will Meet (About 350 participants!):

  • NPN/VAN Partners and Board Members and Staff
  • New Orleans host committee members and colleagues
  • U.S. and international colleagues– arts presenters/producers, curators, cultural organizers, funders
  • Artists:
    • National Artists who have toured on NPN/VAN
    • New Orleans-based performing and visual Artists
    • National Showcase Artists (selected from Creation Fund recipients, last 3 years)

This will be my first Annual Meeting. Will I be the only one who doesn’t know anyone? (Welcome y’all!):

Usually about 40% of attendees are new to the Meeting. Plan to attend the “Let’s Geaux NOLA” Orientation/Ice Breaker at 5:30pm on Thursday to help you figure what’s what (and to meet some of the other folks). Besides, the people who attend the Annual Meeting are a pretty special bunch–you should feel comfortable introducing yourself to them. And remember: this meeting is about networking!
