Welcome to beautiful Austin, aka “Live Music Capital of the World,” home of the breakfast taco, the largest urban bat colony in North America, and NPN/VAN Partner Hosts Women & Their Work and Fusebox. W&TW and FB have been rallying the city’s creatives to ensure that you get to experience Austin in a way that truly reflects its communities and cultures.
We hope to offer the right mix of inspiration, exploration, relationship-building, joy, learning, and creativity to feed your mind and spirit alike. Throughout this year’s agenda, we’ve woven the theme of displacement — one of the most important and complex issues at the intersections of race, creative-placemaking, history, economics, and public policy, facing rural and urban communities alike.
In alignment with NPN/VAN’s commitment to creating an arts sector rooted in justice, we are committed to ensuring a space that is free of racism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, misogyny, classism, or other bias. Our expectation is that attendees of any event hosted by NPN/VAN will honor this ethic.
NPN/VAN receives generous support from Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, Ford Foundation, Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership, Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission, Miami Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, Joan Mitchell Foundation, Lambent Foundation Fund of Tides Foundation, Louisiana Division of the Arts, National Endowment for the Arts, Quixote Foundation, Surdna Foundation, WESTAF, City of Austin Economic Development Department, The Cultural Arts Division of the Economic Development Department, and the Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau.
