Stuff happens. The NPN staff experienced this firsthand in August 2005. While the offices themselves weren’t damaged, we didn’t have access to our files or computers for about three weeks.¬† New Orleans isn’t the only city that has faced catastrophe and it won’t be the last. Arts organizations are fragile. Having a business continuity plan in place before a disaster can help to keep an organization functioning, in touch with its constituents, and stable.

What is ArtsReady?

Launched in fall 2011, ArtsReady is a web-based emergency preparedness platform designed to provide arts organizations with customized business continuity plans for post-crisis sustainability.

Why do readiness planning?

  • To protect community and cultural assets
  • To demonstrate sustainability to investors
  • To show mitigated risk to insurance companies
  • To be able to get up and running after a crisis

Recognizing its value, the National Performance Network has partnered with ArtsReady to bring the ArtsReady online business continuity, readiness and sustainability planning tool to its members at a 50% discount. NPN/VAN Partner organizations can join ArtsReady for just $150 for their first year by entering the code npn2014gen when enrolling.

Call on the ArtsReady team for assistance with any of these resources. Omar Nelson, membership manager,, (404) 874-7244 x 28.
