Colleen Furukawa produces Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s (MACC) performing arts season; develops comprehensive community engagement programs; oversees its visual arts exhibitions, arts education, and Hawaiian cultural programs; and coordinates strategic fund development. She has produced and toured nationally recognized contemporary new work by Native Hawaiian artists from hula dramas to theater. Colleen was a curatorial delegate with NPN’s international program, Japan–US Connection.
A graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, she joined MACC in 2001 and has served on review panels for the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF), NPN, and as a Hub Site representative for the New England Foundation for the Arts’s National Dance Project. She is on the boards of the Performing Arts Presenters of Hawai’i and Hawai’i Council for the Humanities.
