The National Performance Network, including the Visual Artists Network (NPN/VAN), is a 30-year old national intermediary arts organization based in New Orleans. It is a diverse group of cultural organizers working to enhance the practice and public experience of the arts in the United States. NPN/VAN’s programs include local, national and international activities and serve three primary purposes: subsidizing the creation and touring of new work by contemporary artists, convening NPN/VAN organizational partners with artists and colleagues, and influencing cultural policy. NPN has an annual budget of $3.5 million.

Job Overview

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement long- and short-term fundraising strategies, research funding sources (foundation, corporate, government and individual prospects) and trends in philanthropy, plan and develop grant proposals and reports, and cultivate and foster relationships with funders;
  • Ensure NPN/VAN meets all of the guidelines/requirements of funders, grant agreements and NPN fiscal policies, document and track development efforts, and create and maintain an annual development plan and calendar;
  • Liaise with the board of directors and collaborate with the staff to identify resources and activities for assistance in meeting resource development goals.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Comfort with financial reporting

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of fund development experience
  • Community-oriented experience
  • Computer literacy
  • Experience in foundation, corporate, government and individual prospect research
  • Communications/PR experience highly desirable
  • Experience with local, regional and national government, corporate and foundation fundraising
