Joan Mitchell Center in New Orleans seeks Program Director

The Joan Mitchell Foundation, based in New York, has been very supportive in the rebuilding efforts of the New Orleans arts community through its roughly $2 million of funding to local artists and arts organizations. The Foundation is deepening its presence in the Gulf Coast area and has established a center in New Orleans.

The new Joan Mitchell Center in New Orleans is seeking candidates for its first program director, a full time position to begin this spring. The program director will be part of an administrative team developing the Center’s residency and community arts programming.

The program director (PD) would ideally be a current resident of New Orleans and possess an extensive knowledge of the local visual arts community. Understanding of visual artists and their professional practices is essential to this position.

The PD will be responsible for coordinating and implementing a wide range of administrative, communication, and logistical duties to support the director in the daily management activities and special projects of the Center. This position may require evening and weekend hours.
