Individual Donors Respond to Challenge

NPN’s annual giving campaign got a boost in December when the Board of Directors issued a challenge to attendees at the 25th Anniversary Annual Meeting in Dallas. Led by board member Nicole Garneau, the board assembled a wide range of raffle and auction items, designed a series of short humorous fund-raising appeals and generally passed the hat, raising nearly $8,500 from 101 donors, many of them brand-new donors to NPN. Economic Survey Released

In the summer of 2010, NPN surveyed artist-centered organizations and individual artists, a group that is frequently under the radar of many art surveys. The report, based on responses from 800 participants, is now available online here. Findings include that, in general, organizations saw decreases in support from various sources, but 19% actually saw their revenues increase. The survey also revealed that only one in eight of the responding artists makes all of his or her income from artistic work: 88% hold second jobs, with most employment being in education.

Forth Fund

Even before Danya Hanson finished working on Gloria’s Cause, she knew it would need a little more work before it was ready for its official premiere. In collaboration with Hanson’s original commissioner, On the Boards, the project received one of the six pilot projects of NPN’s Fourth Fund, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Read Danya’s story about the difference that the Fourth Fund support made.
