The Performing Americas Project is a partnership between NPN and La RED (Red de Promotores Culturales de Latinoamerica y el Caribe). This partnership has created a structure for systematic exchange of contemporary performing arts touring in this hemisphere in residencies that provide opportunities for community engagement.
The exchange has 3 levels:
- NPN to La RED
- NPN presenters to La RED presenters
- Artists to communities in the Americas
The residency model and artist constituencies of La RED and NPN are:
- Artists who have touring experience in their own region
- Artists who want to work in a community residency context
- Artists who are “emerging” — those who have not had opportunities for exposure because of systematic isolation based on geography, class, ethnicity, race, political content, etc.
- Artists for whom the fee scale offered is acceptable
NPN and La RED have both contributed resources to plan and implement the Performing Americas Project and to subsidize the travel, touring costs and artists’ fees. Each participating presenter is paying for its own presenting costs.
PAP is celebrating 10 years of international exchange. Read more.
