DEADLINE FOR MEDIA EXTENDED!
MEDIA REGISTRATION DEADLINE: OCTOBER 20, 2006
RECEIPT DEADLINE: OCTOBER 23, 2006
NOTE: Only NPN Partners and Performing Americas Curators may submit and present media
INTENT
To expose local and regional performing artists from NPN Partners communities to NPN Partners, Artists, Colleagues and Performing Americas Panelists.
PRESENTATION FORMAT
NPN will host two Media Showcases this year which will be open to ALL NPN Partners. Each NPN Region (Midwest, Northeast, South and West) will be allotted 50 minutes. 8 Partners from each region will be eligible to present media on a first come, first served basis. Due to the limited number of slots, NPN encourages cities with multiple NPN Partners and regions to collaborate on their presentation.
Each Partner will have a maximum of 5 minutes to present one or more artists/companies, and 1 minute to answer questions and make comments.
To be considered: all media must be registered (through this site) by October 20, 2006 and received by NPN no later than October 23, 2006.
LIMITATIONS
- -NPN Partners may not present media of themselves
- -Media presentation cannot be any longer than 5 minutes
- -Media must be received by NPN by October 23, 2006 and registered (through this site) by October 20, 2006
Recommendation: Keep in mind that the viewing audience will primarily consist of NPN Partners, Artists and Colleagues. Consider the following:
- -Is the company too large for the target audience to present?
- -Will the company tour under NPN Fees?
During the Media Showcase, Performing Americas Panelists will be viewing work to be considered for the 2008 Performing Americas Project tour. Artists who will be considered must fit the following profile:
- -Have touring experience in their own region
- -Never or infrequently toured Latin America
- -Are “emerging” or underexposed because of systematic isolation whether of geography, class, ethnicity, race, political content, etc
- -Want to work in a community residency context
- -Are comfortable working under the NPN Residency Model- fee scale should be reasonable and not a “step down”
- -Company has a maximum of 4 performers and one tech (an additional bilingual tour manager will be provided by Performing Americas)
VIDEO DEN
In addition to the Media Showcase there will be a private unscheduled Media screening room on site at the hotel. We encourage NPN Partners to use this space to show Media of additional artists or longer excerpts of Showcase Media.
PRESS PACKETS
For artists to be considered for the Performing Americas Project, additional press packets should be left in the designated area of the Video Den.
MEDIA SHOWCASE
A program will be included in the Annual Meeting packet which will include contact information, descriptions, and details of all the work being shown.
HOW TO SUBMIT MEDIA
1) Register Each Artist Company
Click on the link below entitled “Register Media”. Complete a registration form for EACH ARTIST/COMPANY presented. A HARD COPY of the form must accompany all media, so please remember to print a copy of the registration form prior to clicking “submit”. (If you are registering multiple artist/companies you must register the first artist, click “submit”, re-enter this site, register the next artist, click “submit”, etc.)
2) Collect Media
Media should be in DVD, VHS, or CD format. Media must be cued and labeled with the NPN Partner name, Artist name, and running time. The Media will run from the cue for the time specified in the registration form (on the following page). All Media should be previewed before sent and packaged safely for shipping- NPN will NOT preview Media prior to the showcase. NPN Partners are encouraged to compile excerpts of artists on one DVD/VHS. If this is not an option, separate pieces of Media may be sent. Media will be transferred to the Video Den after the showcase where it will be left; Media will not be sent back.
3) Mail Media and Registration Form
Mail a hard copy of each registration form along with the corresponding cued, labeled Media to:
