At the Annual Meeting in Dallas in 2010, one of the artists who performed later shared with us that his grandfather got to see his work for the first time by watching the live stream on #NewPlay TV! That was the first year of NPN’s collaboration with #NewPlay TV!, an interactive media outlet that streams any discipline of performance in order to advance the conversation around new work. They were with us in Tampa and Philadelphia, and we look forward to welcoming them to New Orleans in December 2013.
#NewPlay TV! is only one of HowlRound’s knowledge platforms. HowlRound’s purpose is to provide an arena — a “commons” — for the sharing of art and ideas, so that “the shared resource of artistic imagination makes communities better.” On the HowlRound website you’ll also find an online journal with opinions, interviews, articles on ideas and process; NewPlay Map, an interactive map of what is happening now; information on a new program, three-year residencies for playwrights at American theatre companies; and a whole lot more. Visit HowlRound.com to discover and share.
We build open platforms that facilitate knowledge sharing and align resources for artists and institutions to create a more transparent and accessible nonprofit theater.
