The National Performance Network has received a very generous grant from Altria Corporate Services, Inc. to support the participation of NPN touring artists at the National Performing Arts Convention in Denver, June 2008. Artist scholarships will ensure a broader and more diverse representation of the national performing arts community, including the presence of independent artists in significant numbers.
At Altria, supporting the arts is thought to be an important investment in the cultural and economic vitality of communities. Altria’s focus is to enrich the cultural landscape by supporting organizations and programs that foster innovation, diversity, and artistic excellence.
We are very grateful to Altria for this substantial award which will benefit so many NPN touring artists.
The National Performance Network is honored to announce that it has received a core support grant from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, Support for National Organizations Initiative. In November, DDCF awarded core support grants totaling $5 million to eight national organizations. In addition to NPN, our colleagues who also received this prestigious support include: Association of Performing Arts Presenters, Chamber Music America, Creative Capital Foundation, Dance/USA, National Association of Latino Arts and Culture, Nonprofit Finance Fund and the Theatre Communications Group.
The mission of the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation is to improve the quality of people’s lives through grants supporting the performing arts, environmental conservation, medical research and the prevention of child maltreatment, and through preservation of the cultural and environmental legacy of Doris Duke’s properties.
We are very grateful to the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation for this valuable funding opportunity which was designed to support national arts organizations who play a critical role in the dance, jazz, presenting and/or theatre fields.
The Louisiana Division of the Arts has awarded NPN a Special Initiatives grant for the 2007 Annual Meeting. These funds helped to support the participation and performances of 60 Louisiana artists during the 23rd Annual Meeting which was held December 6-10 in New Orleans. Thanks to the Division for this award as performances are a major aspect of the meeting which this year included a full day of performances, Saturday Live! Performances at the Annual Meeting are an invaluable opportunity for artist work to be seen by other artists, colleagues and a pool of national and international presenters who are most likely to be interested in their work, possibly fostering future touring and residency opportunities.
The Louisiana Division of the Arts in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council is the catalyst for participation, education, development and promotion of excellence in the arts. It is the responsibility of the Division to support established arts institutions, nurture both emerging arts organizations and our overall cultural economy, assist individual artists, encourage the expansion of audiences and stimulate public participation in the arts in Louisiana.
We are honored to have Regions Bank, formerly AmSouth, as one of our corporate sponsors for NPN’s 23rd Annual Meeting, which is to be held in New Orleans, December 6-10. Regions has a long tradition of supporting and being an active presence in the communities it serves. Through its support of arts organizations, Regions Bank helps thousands enjoy art in their communities. Regions’ community relationships reflect the corporation’s simple, yet powerful, commitment to service and belief in the power of the relationship. Thanks to Regions Bank for their continued support of NPN.
We are honored to acknowledge a gift from The Moore Family Fund for the Arts of the Minneapolis Foundation. The Moore Family Fund for the Arts supports experiments by multidiscipline and ensemble-based artists. The Fund’s priorities include new performance, dance, circus, puppetry, theatre and the visual arts in the Twin Cities, New York and elsewhere. Thanks so much to David Moore, Jr. and The David & Katherine Moore Family Foundation for this donation to general operating support.
Many thanks to the Center for Community Arts Partnerships, CCAP, an outreach program of Columbia College Chicago, who recently recognized NPN’s contributions to the field with a matching gift donation. Founded on a mission to link the academic departments of the college with diverse communities throughout the city, CCAP brings the concepts of community-based learning, arts-integrated curricula and reciprocal partnerships into the spotlight. It unites artists, educators, students, corporations, schools and community-based organizations to form meaningful, sustainable partnerships in the arts.
